Minehead Farmers' Market - StallsHome - What do we sell? - Information for Traders - Contact - Links
If you buy from us you are giving your money directly to the local economy rather than to a multi-national which will have little or no roots in our area. And of course, you know where your food comes from and can ask questions about how it is produced.
We offer a high quality alternative to the supermarket. Our produce is competitively priced and we have many regular customers on a budget who choose to shop with us. We have a variety of stallholders each week, selling bread, cakes, fish, pork, beef, venison, poultry, eggs, cheese, plants, vegetables, flowers, chutney, apple juice and beer.
Most of our stallholders can take regular or special orders from customers each week. Please contact individual stallholders before Wednesday of each week to allow them time to plan ahead. Although at the moment, you will need to contact traders individually to place orders for collection, we will soon be adding a facility to submit just a single 'shopping list' that goes to all traders, so you can collect all your purchases in a single box each week.
Our traders come from within a thirty mile radius of Minehead and most of their products and ingredients do as well. Please see our 'Information for Traders' page for more information about how traders are accepted.
Plowright OrganicI started growing organic vegetables in 2000, delivering just a handful of boxes in Goathurst, Enmore, Spaxton and Bridgwater. Remke joined me in 2003 and together we formed Plowright Organic Produce and began to increase our production and the number of boxes. In 2004 we received second place in the ‘Organic box scheme of the year' awards and were runners up in the Somerset life ‘best organic product and trader' award 2006.
We manage all the land at Stowey Rocks to organic standards and are certified organic by the Bristol based Soil Association certification Ltd. License number UK5 /AB17796.
Growing organic vegetables is hard work and requires attention to detail but we would not want to grow them any other way. Our box scheme enables us to produce affordable organic food on a small scale. We use minimal packaging and sell locally to reduce food miles. Ultimately we want to develop a sustainable organic system to provide good quality seasonal vegetables to local people and in so doing, help to re-make the connection between the land and people.
We run a weekly box-scheme that will be available for collection from the market by pre-order. Please contact us for details!
North Curry BreweryWe set up the Brewery in the summer of 2006 having previously worked in various other industries. Our brewery is situated some 100 metres from the original brewery in Church Road, North Curry. We are now housed in the Old Coach House, behind Gwyon House, which dates from the early 14th century.
Set up as a microbrewery we have steadily expanded the amount of beer we produce and the levels of equipment and expertise used. We are truly a family run business with the father owning the business, brother in law helping with brewing, one son as chief of advertising and marketing, and any other family members helping out bottling. We started off producing Red Heron ale and we now have increased our ales to five, which include seasonal beers.
All North Curry ales are produced by traditional methods and are brewed using only the four essential ingredients of top-quality English malt, predominantly English hops, water and yeast. The absence of artificial additives means there is less risk of a nasty hangover!

Greenmeadow PoultryMy free-range flock is made up from large fowl Barnevelders, Cream Legbars, Leghorns, Salmon Faverolles and bantam Marans, Araucanas, Anconas and Pekins. I also have some hybrid Goldlines and Black Rocks. These produce a mixture of different coloured eggs - brown, tinted, white and green/blue. I have a small number of duck eggs from Khaki Cambells and am currently expanding my numbers of quail. I am registered with the Egg Marketing Board as a Free Range Egg Producer and my eggs are all stamped with my producer number - 1UK21754.
If I need additional eggs I buy them from Deane Barton Free-Range Eggs at Langford Budville, a small family-run free-range poultry farm. I also sell hatching eggs and point of lay pullets.
Mrs Mopps Chutneys and PreservesAll our chutneys, jams and marmalades are locally produced in Carhampton, Somerset. They are made from the freshest ingredients and contain no additives.

Somerset VenisonWe produce farmed red deer venison, fed on an all-grass diet at our family farm near Taunton.
Our venison is high in iron, protein and omega 3 oils and low in fat and cholesterol. It is tender and flavoursome, not tough and gamey like some wild venison can be. We do not use any GM or antibiotics.
We sell all cuts of venison from large joints to burgers and sausages at the farmer's market; and our products are freshly prepared locally, ensuring full traceability.
Orders for particular cuts or our boxes are welcome for collection from the market; we also sell a variety of different sized boxes by post.

Out Over CateringWe bring both sweet and savory products to the market - sausage rolls, scotch eggs, quiche, pies and pasties; and all kinds of cakes from tea-bread to traditional coffee cakes.
All our products are made in our farmhouse kitchen. We breed our own Duroc-cross pigs for sausagemeat and other meat is sourced locally from neighbouring Exmoor farms 'by the bullock'.
We can take orders by phone or email and bring to the market for collection.
We also have catering trailers for event hire, which can provide a variety of cooked food, including homemade burgers, sausages and roast pork rolls.

Pork Heaven From DevonWe breed and rear saddleback pigs on our farm in Stoodleigh, Devon. They are ethically reared using traditional free range farming methods, spending most of their time doing what pigs love doing best, rooting around in the soil.
We are small producers and pride ourselves on the personal touch, ensuring that our customers get the very best top quality pork from healthy, happy pigs; from our fabulous sausages to the finest joints.
All our butchering and production processes are carried out at home from start to finish. We can supply your events and barbecues, or simply a succulent joint for a dinner party! We sell leg, collar and loin roasting joints all with delicious crackling and very tender meat due to the fact we hang the meat for at least ten days before butchering. The fat from the meat makes the most beautiful roast potatoes too!
We also do pork chops, tenderloin, belly slabs or we can cut any joint you require with approximately a weeks notice. Or try our sausages, burgers, bacon, hams or blackpudding!

From early spring until the end of the growing season we grow a range of both traditional and more exotic potted culinary herbs to help you spice up your cooking. Once our annual basil crop is ready to harvest in mid-summer, we start making fresh pesto. We only make small batches in season and they sell quickly. If you want to be on the list of the lucky few to have a regular supply throughout the growing season, please make sure you get in touch.
During the late summer/autumn, once the basil crop has finished and herb sales are slowing down we keep ourselves busy by producing a delicious range of apple juices in partnership with small local orchard owners.

If anyone is interested in ordering anything, I can pretty much work to your specification! I can personalise bars, add favourite flavours, just to make that gift all the more special (or to be eaten for yourself!).
I started up last year at the age of 20, and absolutely love my job. I hope everyone enjoys eating and having my chocolate as much as I enjoy making it. Any new flavour combos ideas or any advice will be very welcome, as I'm very willing to try new things.
I am at the farmers market on the Minehead high street every Friday 8.30am-2pm. I also attend events during the year, which I'll post on here.

The Common LoafCommon Loaf Bakery is a cottage industry run by a small group of families and single people who live together on a small farm in Devon. We call ourselves The Community at Stentwood Farm. Common Loaf bread is not ordinary bread like that made in big factories and sold through chains of big stores. It's made according to traditional recipes without compromise. In this vein we make most of our recipes with the whole grains of Spelt and Rye. We also like to make some naturally leavened (sourdough) recipes. We feel like these choices make for a products that are nutritious and more easily digested.
A complete list of our breads and ingredients is on our website.
